Why visit Koh Pha Ngan?

Koh Pha Ngan is an island situated in the Gulf of Thailand between Koh Samui and Koh Tao, and has a chilled-out, backpacker atmosphere.

This paradise destination offers a wide range of wonderful beaches with turquoise water, where you can see colourful corals and marine life. Hike to Khao Ra

Khao Ra is the highest mountain as is situated in the northern section of the island. The round trip takes around 3 hours and it is pretty easy. Starting from Khao Ra Retreat. Remember to be careful as the track is not well marked, you may have to come back a couple of times.

Full Moon Party

The most popular and obvious thing to do in Koh Pha Ngan, one should definitely visit Haad Rin Beach in time for the full moon — so long as you are up for a wild night out, of course! Enjoy an unforgettable night with around 30,000 people and dance until sunrise. The party is free but we definitely recommend you buy some UV face paint for the full experience.

The Yoga Retreat

Come for a true retreat deep in the jungle to clear your mind and body. Retreats are full of meditation, yoga and vegan cuisine. You can stay for a week or up to a whole month.

How to get there?

Koh Pha Ngan is situated 12 km north of Koh Samui, and the only way to get there is by boat. There are routes from the islands of Koh Tao and Koh Samui, and also two routes from the mainland — either Matapon Pier in the province of Chumphon, or Surat Thani.

The ferry from Chumphon to Ko Pha Ngan takes 5 hours. From Koh Tao to Koh Phangan Ferry takes 2 hours. A speed boat can take you from Surat Thani to Haad Rin in 3.5 hours.

From Koh Samui (Nathon Pier) to either Haad Rin or Thong Sala Pier on Koh Pha Ngan takes between 20 minutes and 1.5 hours depending on which pier you depart from.

Take note that all boat companies offer combined tickets with pick-up at the airport, train station or at your hostel in the town to make your life easier.
