How to get from Sihanoukville to Koh Rong and Koh Rong Sanloem?
Buy your ticket at DuckFerries. Ride the free shuttle to the boarding zone. Board the fast yet comfortable boat. Arrive at your destination. It’s that simple.
It is also strongly advised that you are aware of exactly where you wish to go to since, in Koh Rong, there are 28 beaches with four villages and taking the wrong speed ferry might land you in an area that is quite a distance from where you need to be. The only option thereafter would be a traditional Cambodian fishing boat called a Longtail to get to your destination which would also cost extra.
Koh Toch is the main village in Koh Rong and seems to be the main drop off point for most travelers.
Booking with DuckFerries will eliminate all the worry of ending up stranded will drop you off at the dock closest to where you need to be.
Hotel Shuttles
Having partnered up with tested and reliable speed ferry companies, many also offer hotel shuttles to the Sihanoukville’s Serendipity Pier, where most speed ferries and boats depart. Depending on the weather conditions, the other pier that would be used is Sihanoukville’s Royal Pier. The companies that do offer shuttle service are normally free of charge.
Please make sure that you take into consideration the times of departure for your speed boat departing from the pier.
Heading to Koh Rong?
As we mentioned earlier that when traveling to Koh Rong, one would have to be very clear about which location you will be headed. Having said that, the most popular destination will be the Village of Koh Toch with the Sok San Village followed as the next most popular choice.
There are speed boats organized by various companies as well as slower boat options however, these do take some time to arrive and the scheduling changes are erratic so when using them one would have to be diligent.
The nature and capacity of the boats vary from 50 occupants to as large as 150 pax. And the comfort of the trip and speed will depend on the size and occupancy, as well as weather conditions. Meaning that the larger the boats the smoother the ride as the smaller boats can quite “bumpy”.
The slower options are boats that transport the locals and supplies which are cheaper however, take much longer and not always as comfortable. The average time for the ferries is approximately 45 minutes on average. The “Slow Boat” option which may be cheaper, usually takes between 2 to 3 hours depending on the weather.
The average pricing for the Ferries is $22 for a return per person and $12 one way. Some boats do charge more however they have air conditioning as well as lunch etc.
The timing of departure will also depend on the Speed Boat company you choose to travel with. Booking should be done online, check all available ferry schedules right here on DuckFerries.com
