Being slightly smaller and not as developed as Koh Rong, Koh Rong Sanloem does not have as much of a nightlife and entertainment scene, with more of the relaxing atmosphere of an island getaway.

With the fresh ocean breeze stillness and solitude with all the benefits of the southeast Asian beaches without the party vibe of the neighboring Koh Rong, this island has what you may be looking for if you would like to “get away from it all”, so to speak.

Activities at Koh Rong Sanloem

If what you are after is sunbathing, chilling in a hammock, reading by the ocean, having a coffee or a beer, walking the beaches and meeting people etc. then Koh Rong Sanloem is for you.

Since this island is not as developed and popular as Koh Rong, it truly is geared towards the couples, families and travelers who simply wish to relax and enjoy the beach.

Yoga and meditation classes are also available given the surroundings; it is almost the perfect setting to do so.

Diving and snorkeling are also an option for your daily activities, as well as this is also the beaches where you would find the bioluminescence on the beach at night.

Accommodation at Koh Rong Sanloem

The more developed side or area of Koh Rong Sanloem would be Saracen Bay. There are some hotels to stay at and a long white sand beach to enjoy. This would be the place to find some alone time for couples and families who would like to spend more time together.

M-Pai Bay is not as developed and has a higher concentration of backpackers and community to speak of.

European and Asian dishes of course, however, there are also popular vegetarian/vegan options which would delight those who prefer not to or are unable to eat meat.

Heads Up!

There are no ATMs on the island so taking cash with you is essential. It would also be advisable to take more than required should you decide to stay longer as well as the prices do exceed the mainland and could be beyond what some budget for.

The Power supply to the island is provided by a generator and it as well as the water supply may cut off at almost any time.

Traveling between the Koh Rong and Koh Rong Sanloem island?

There are some things to remember when traveling to Koh Rong as well as the times to do so.

Speed Ferry Cambodia’s slow boat:

The Boat that departs Koh Rong bound for Koh Toch, is a supply boat that loads and offloads at M’Pai Bay before it departs. This means that the length of time it takes to get to Koh Toch (Koh Rong) would be much longer than the normal 45 minutes and still costs $5.
